Abstract :

Issues discussed in this paper is the use of language by ethnic Chinese in Surabaya. Asa multi-lingual communities of ethnic Chinese people use more than one language whencommunicating. Language of the ethnic Chinese community in Indonesia is often timesget the effect of a language other than Indonesian-language eg Mandarin languageusage. The purpose of this study is to examine the structural basis of the phonology andmorphology in terms of the languages used by ethnic Chinese in Surabaya to revealwhether or not a pattern that is different from the original pronunciation of Indonesiansociety. The research was carried out with the recording process and record even sowriters are also involved in communications made by ethnic Chinese. methods used bythe author is descriptive qualitative method that authors get data according to thatoccurring at the time of the study. The pronunciation of the ethnic Chinese communitywill be assessed with phonological and were found from this study is the changephoneme, phoneme removal and addition of phonemes. In terms of morphology authorreveals the basic form, the process of affixation and reduplication process in thelanguage commonly used by the Chinese in Surabaya.
