Abstract :

ABSTRACT From all activities, hospitals discharge many kind of wastes, one of them is liquid waste. Liquid waste discharge directly to the water will cause health problem when it is not pass through any processing in order to minimize the content of danger of that waste, therefore there is a need to built liquid waste processing facility. This research is performed to study the effectiveness of liquid waste management in order to be able to decrease the level of BOD, COD, TSS, pH, MPN Coli and health complaint to officer of IPAL at RSUD. dr. M. Soewandhie Surabaya. This research is a descriptive research which purpose is studying the effectiveness of liquid waste processing in decreasing the level of BOD, COD, TSS, pH, MPN Coli and health complaint to officer of IPAL at RSUD. dr. M. Soewandhie Surabaya. From the result of the research, it is known that the level of BOD, COD, TSS, pH, and MPN Coli after the processing is 80,6mg/l for BOD, 203,57mg/l for COD, 79mg/l for TSS, 7 for pH, and 210.102 for MPN Koliform. Based on the result of the interview that has been done in the field, it is known that respondent (officer of IPAL) which task is handling operational and management of IPAL at RSUD. dr. M. Soewandhie Surabaya do not experience any health complaint. From the result of the research, it can be concluded that the result of liquid waste management at RSUD. dr. M. Soewandhie Surabaya, especially for BOD, COD, TSS, MPN Coliform, it has not known yet environment quality standard. It is suggested that in order to be able to fulfill effectiveness target, there should be operating screening, therefore liquid waste management process will run optimally. Moreover, there is an effort to train officers of IPAL about maintenance and improvement at IPAL.   Keywords: waste water treatment, hospital, health complaints, officers WWTP.
