Abstract :
Abstract: Vendors generally use simple sanitation facilities are less conform to the sanitary requirements that may affect the bacteriological quality of food. The purpose was to identity food hygiene and sanitation, Salmonella at fresh vegetables and consumer health complaints of food vendors in Arif Rahman Hakim Street of Surabaya. This was an observational study with the sample were 16 vendors, 16 fresh vegetables, and 87 consumers. The results were 9 street vendors (56,25%) have qualified personal hygiene, all of food vendors have qualified sanitary conditions, all of food vendors have not qualified sanitation conditions, as much as 2 samples of fresh vegetables (12,50%) were basil leaves contained Salmonella bacteria, and consumers as many as 11 respondents (12,64%) experienced health complaints. The conclusion was hygiene and sanitation of food vendors in Arif Rahman Hakim Street of Surabaya city as many as 10 vendors (62,50%) qualified to Kepmenkes No. 942/Menkes/ K/VII/2003 RI No. 942/Menkes/SK/VII/2003. Suggestions for vendors to follow the counseling activities, supervision, and develop food hygiene sanitation, consumers are more selective to choose the foods, and health center or Health Department of Surabaya City conducts counseling activities, supervision, and development for food vendors.
