Abstract :

Slank is a group band which established since 1983 until nowadays still exists and hasconsistency producing songs about social critics issues. These social critics can not besepareted from the historical context and social condition that happened on the society.The writer assumed social critics which told by Slank in their songs as an interestingphenomenon which apropriate to examine it to the depth analysis, thus, five controversialsong has chosen by the writer which are “Gosip Jalanan”, “Seperti Para Koruptor”,“Lapindo”, “Cekal”, and “Bang-bang Tut” as the object of lyrics analysis. Qualitativedescriptive and satire poem has used as the method colided with the theory of literarysociology by Djoko Damono Sapardi, how is the form and the meaning of the social criticswhich represented in the five Slank’s song lyrics becomes the statement of the problem thatheld by the writer in this research. Finally, the aim of this the research is to looking for themeaning beyond the lyrics as the part of social critics from Slank’s signature songs.
