Abstract :
Abstract Part of mainstream culture in society is often referred to as a subculture. Subcultures are cultural variations of mainstream culture. Subculture is the focus of this study. This research is a form of cultural anthropology studies formed through ideas and behaviors in a subculture, the subculture Reggae. This research using observational methods in the implementation of active participation and in-depth interviews with subjects who assembled this research theme. Reggae is one of the subcultures that exist in Indonesia. Reggae is actually a kind of music that comes from the Jamaican culture that developed from local traditional music. Reggae became a subculture when in contact with the Rastafarian movement, the movement that emerged in Jamaica in the 1930s as a form of apartheid rejection by European society at that colonize Jamaica. The findings of this study concluded that the acquisition brings lifestyle reggae subculture formed by the imitation of the style of life lived by the icon of reggae music, namely Bob Marley. Lifestyle Bob Marley lived a lifestyle mostly undertaken by the followers of the Rastafarian movement in Jamaica, so it can be said that the lifestyle of the Rastafarian movement in the adoption by reggae subculture.
