Abstract :
Malnutrition is an obstacle to the improvement of health in the various countries. Surabaya as a metropolis; in fact is still not exempt from of malnutrition. This aimed study is identify the role and function Posyandu on child nutrition, their knowledge, trust, food and habits, the nutrition status of children; and to construct a model of nutrition balanced for the child based on socio-cultural pattern, as an effort to repair the nutrition status, to achieve of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs ). This was a descriptive-qualitative research. The data were obtained from Pegirian ini Semampir Sub-district and from Putat Jaya in Sawahan Sub-dis-trict. For the collection of data the researchers used interviews and observation. The result showed the Kampong Officals is thje effective way to approching people. The involvement of a leader of the people will give good psychological impact on the society. The society demanded even quality of health knowledge of all cadres. Cultural backgrounds including the belief in certain food and the meaning—culturally—of certain food were very influential to the selection of food. Application of PGS should also involve kindergarten or elementary school teachers in the region of RT/RW. Thus the question of nutrition was not just the duty of the cadres of Posyandu but also the responsibility of all those involved, such as the mother, local leaders, health workers, teachers and school children.
