Abstract :
This research raised issue of Banana Wars, the longest international trade dispute in the history of the WTO. The argument put forward here is theoperationalization of the WTO free-trade schemes still has problems, especially of the existence of the historical factors shape banana tradepreferences between Europe and the ACP. Thus, Normas are created in the WTO regime is not adhered to because the countries involved exclusivelyconcerned with priorities in trade relations that have long formed between colonies and colonial since 1900 until 1992. Limit of free-trade shaped byhistorical ties which then prevents the WTO member countries to implement total liberalization in the global banana trade. The discussion is divided intothe formation of the European banana trade regime and the ACP during colonialism as historical descriptions and historical implications of thestrengthening the conflict sentiment of Banana Wars. This writing concludes with the interpretation of the emergence of Banana Wars case as empiricalevidence of the weakness of the WTO multilateral free-trade scheme.
