Abstract :
The research is combination of TiO2 with natural zeolite by impregnation to degrade methyl orange with photocatalytic method. The first stage in this research is the preparation of natural zeolite by crushing, washing, and cakcination to remove impurities. The second stage is the process of impregnation, mixing TiO2 with zeolites, absolute ethanol, and calcination at a temperature of 400 oC. The formed TiO2 impregnated on zeolites to test for degradation of methyl orange. The test showed when TiO2 impregnated on the zeolite (TiO2/zeolit) and H2O2 can degrading methyl orange 10 ppm at pH 4 during 180 minutes. Characterization of TiO2 impregnated zeolite (TiO2/zeolit) using XRD and FTIR. Activity TiO2/zeolit by photocatalytic in degrading methyl orange is higher than TiO2, but the activity is not much different when compared to using zeolites. It is thought the process of adsorption on zeolites.. So that from the results obtained on the zeolite impregnated TiO2 (TiO2/zeolit) can degrading methyl orange of 50,15%.
