Abstract :

Diabetes is a disease characterized by elevated levels of glucose in the blood (hyperglycemia). Resistance of insulin in diabetes can inhibit muscle response to insulin stimulation, but still able to respond to stimulation of muscle contraction. Patients with DM requiring an independent-insulin assistance in the form of physical exercise over the stimulation of contraction. One attempt to lower blood glucose levels in diabetes is through dynamic activity with the type of eccentric contractions. The purpose of this study is to prove that the dynamic eccentric activity improve total glucose uptake in the experimental animals diabetic mice. This research method uses The Randomize Post Test Only Control Group Design. Form of treatment the eccentric dynamic activity in this study is a treadmill with a slope angle of -10 degrees (downhill), speed of 21 cm/sec, and the duration of exercise granting 16:30 seconds. The results: Group 1 (control) differ significantly with group 2 (diabetic mice) were equally treated normal activity on a treadmill (treadmill is not running). Group 1 (control) did not differ significantly by group 3 (diabetic mice) treated with eccentric dynamic activity on the treadmill. Significantly different from group 2 and group 3. The benefits of this research are eccentric activity can be used as an alternative to dynamic activity helps lower blood glucose levels in diabetic patients with this type of contraction. This activity can be included in the program of blood glucose levels decreased gradually which is acute, which is coupled with dietary adjustments and a healthy lifestyle in patients with DM.
