Abstract :
The purpose of this research is to potency of secondary metabolites extracted ethanol contained in the leaves of Annona squamosa (sweetsop) as immunostimulants in particular broiler chickens against gumboro (like HIV) that provides an alternative antiviral drug that is safer, cheap and easily obtainable in herb-based environment in Indonesia. The ethanol extract of leaves of Annona squamosa as herbal immunostimulants in broiler chickens infected with gumboro (like HIV) affects the profile of antibody titers against gumboro. This research using the 40 individuals one-day-old broiler chickens (DOC). The extract Annona squamosa (Sweetsop) with a dose of 10 mg/kg body weight, administered orally at the age of 7 days until the end of the experiment, namely the age of 35 days, given gumboro infection at the age of 20 days in a peroral dose of EID50 107. Gumboro antibody examination by ELISA method performed at the Laboratory of Virology Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Airlangga University. The study was done in five months. From these results prove that administration of A. squamosa in broilers infected with gumboro (like HIV) provide a significant impact especially in relation to an average of antibody titer (p<0.05). Therefore, the ethanol extract of A. squamosa can be considered as an antiviral against gumboro infections (like HIV) as well as improve the immune system.
