Resting heart rate and body weight are discriminators of fitness status in physical activity weight bearing exercise

Abstract :

This research aimed at seeking variable discriminator on the individual characteristics in the category of activity that influenced weight bearing exercise. Subjects were 60 students of the year 2010 and 2012 from Sport Coaching Education Department, Faculty of Sport Science, State University of Surabaya. Thirty minutes before the test, the characteristic datas of age, body weight, body height, resting heart rate, blood glucose levels, and blood pressure were measured in resting condition. Characteristic datas of age, body weight, body height, resting heart rate, blood glucose levels, and blood pressure are discriminators candidate for fitness status. The mean and standard deviation characterizing data age (19.78 years ± 1.35), body weight (58.70 kg ± 5.22), body height (166.95 cm ± 4,76), resting heart rate (64.87 beats per minute ± 7.92), blood glucose levels (86.73 mg/dl ± 8.98), and blood pressure in MAP (84.97 mmHg and 4.42). The cooper test of running 1.5 miles was implemented as a data comparison for determining VO2max subject. The mean and standard deviation results of running test is 11.71 minutes ± 1.64 and VO2max is 43.55 cc/kg/men ± 7.02. Body weight and resting heart rate are discriminators for fitness status with function: z = -9.182 + (-0.070 x body weight) + (0.205 x resting heart rate). The accuracy of these function to distinguish individuals in the group are fit and do not fit with the significant value of 98.3% (p = 0.000). Body weight and resting heart rate can be used as discriminators to distinguish individual fitness status without physical tests on the activities of the affected weight bearing exercise.
