Abstract :

The research found the fact that the construction of the monument of Cadet Soewoko’s struggle is inseparable from the military's influence during the the New Order era. It is proved by a decree issued by the army headquarters concerning the establishment of the monument struggle in every area in Indonesia, other than that the committee is involved in the construction of the monument of Soewoko’ struggle. Cadets dominated people with a military background. This indicates the existence of military hegemony in all lines of national life, including social, political, economic and cultural. One of the ways through which the Army seminar held in 1972 that it circulated military version to the Indonesian people through memoirs, movies, museums, school textbooks and the establishment of monuments dedicated to the military. The establishment of military monuments in the New Order era was so enormous in Indonesia. It means that the New Order government tried to create public perception that is condusive to promote the significancy of military role during the revolution period. New Order steps to make military monuments by creating local heroes with military background, with creates an event record of heroism that can be accepted by society at large.
