Abstract :

Penelitian ini menjelaskan tentang peran kesenian Reog Ponorogo dalam menarik massa. Kemampuan seni Reog Ponorogo pada masa Orde Lama dimanfaatkan partai politik untuk memperkenalkan partai. Keberhasilan itu dibuktikan pada hasil pemilu pada tahun 1955, ketika Partai Komunis Indonesia dan PNI muncul sebagai partai dengan pengikut terbanyak. Keberhasilan partai politik dalam menarik massa berdampak pada popularitas kelompok kesenian Reog. Namun pada masa Orde Baru, kondisi menjadi terbalik, yaitu pemerintah Orde Baru melakukan pembubaran terhadap kelompok seni Reog yang pernah dimanfaatkan oleh PKI. This study describes Reog Ponorogo role in attracting the masses. The ability of art Reog Ponorogo the Old Order used to introduce the party's political parties. The success was evidenced in the results of the election in 1955, when the Communist Party of Indonesia and PNI emerged as the party with the most followers. The success of political parties in the appeal to the masses affect the popularity of the group Reog. But in the New Order, the condition is reversed, the New Order government did the dissolution of the group who had used the art Reog by PKI.
