Abstract :

This study is a social history study which discuss about the role of Baperki in Cultural and Educational Foundation 1956-1965. Study of social history in this case is when education is managed by Baperki as Tionghoa organization which has an important role in influencing social change of community/ citizen. Constructing sense of indonesian nationalism for Tionghoa ethnic was done by Baperki through the character education which contains of Nation Building elements. This is done because education is basically tool which can influence the character and nasionalist sense for his students. The schools which are managed by Baperki not only a solution for naturalized Indonesian citizen of Tionghoa descent, citizen of Indonesia, but also a solution for foreign students of Tionghoa to obtain a valid certificate in accordance with the regulations state exams. The conclusion of this study is that Baperki also solves the racial discrimination particularly in the field of education in 1956-1965. The effort Baperki in education is not only limited to Tionghoa ethnic, but participating social change impact on education through educational methods, methods of integration as part of the Nation Building in Surabaya with the aim of achieving a reasonable integration of ethnic Tionghoa descent, resulting in the nationalist community , plural without having to leave there identity.
