Abstract :

Since 1980 Indonesia had prevalent problem that difficult to reduce the incidence and the rate. There are Maternal Mortality Rate (MMR) and Infant Mortality Rate (IMR). One of the grounds for the successfull utilization of PONED PHC is midwives commitment in attending and reffering obstetric and neonatal cases in PONED PHC. This researchs aim to find the most dominant factor toward midwives commitment in utilizing PONED PHC and to formulate a recomendation for increasing usage of PONED PHC through midwives commitment with effort to improve midwives commitment in Sumbersari PHC Madiun Regency. This research took 17 midwive as samples who working at Sumbersari PHC, Polindes, Pustu and private practice of midwive. This research starts from April unti June 2010. This research result showed 56.9% commitment of midwive influenced by work tenure and 43.1% influenced by other factors. The competence and responsible medical doctor and midwive in Sumbersari PHC are need to explore PONED, include the Asuhan Persalinan Normal which ust be also apply in regency level for making better the service of PONED optimalization resource must be done.
