Abstract :
ABSTRACT The research on ‘’Prevalence and factors inf luencing (CD4 and viral load) mother-to-child transmission’’ aims to evaluate the evolution of the prevalence of HIV positive pregnant women, the evolution of the prevalence of HIV positive babies, and factors influencing MTCT in Toliara I District Madagascar. This research was conducted in Toliara I because this place is the centre of Province Toliara which the People Living With HIV (PLWHIV) are many. Data used in this research are secondary data from 2008 to 2012. The secondary data were obtained from the Central Bureau of Statistics, the Bureau of Health in District Toliara I and Regional Reference Hospital in Toliara I District Madagascar. In 2008, 2 pregnant mothers had HIV and gave birth to 2 HIV infected babies; in 2009, it was identical with 2008. In 2010, there was none HIV positive mothers. In 2011, the prevalence rate has increased because there was 3 HIV positive mothers and 1 of them gave birth to 1 infected baby; and in 2012, 4 HIV positive mothers with 2 HIV infected babies. The prevalence rate of HIV positive mothers decreased from 2008 to 2010 and it was increased in 2011 and 2012. Regarding the babies, in 2008 and 2009 it was identical, 100 percent; in 2010 there was none HIV infected babies. In 2011 and 2012, the prevalence rate has increased. In conclusion, the relative risk (CD4 ≤ 350 cells/mm³) of MTCT in accordance with CD4 is 1, 81 and for the viral load (VL ≥ 1000) is 5.
