Abstract :
Most married couples don’t feel up to have a sexual intercourse during pregnancy. The less they know about sex makes them more confused.And, half more is confused by the information spread up among custom or local behavior about sex during p regnancy.The aim of research is to find out the characteristic relationship between social demography and sexual need during pregnancy in KIApolyclinic in Surabaya Islamic Hospital, specifically to learn the correlation between mothers’ age, knowledge, education, parity, occupation,pregnancy history and the sexual need during pregnancy.This is a descriptive analytic research with cross sectional design.The samples involved in the research are 47 pregnant mothers’.Furthermore, data are collected by structured questionnaire and interview; then analyzed by Chi squa re.The research shows that there is a significant relationship between number of children who had been born (P = 0.008), pregnancy age(P = 0.01), pregnancy history (P = 0.028), while the research has found no relation between the age of pregnant mothers (P = 0.724),educational level (P = 0.730), knowledge level (P = 0.319), and occupation (P = 0.062).Therefore, It is very important to give sexual education or information to pregnant mothers, generally to women who are in reproductiveperiod in order to have a good and responsible attitude and behavior. In other words, they know what they are doing, what consequencesshould be taken by them, their couple, and society in general. Finally, through social education, ones are expected to develop themselves aswell as their personality.
