Abstract :

In the formulation of foreign policy, the country's leaders are often not just a single actor. There are many ministers, officials, staff of experts to the interest groups that also influence the foreign policy of a country. This study departs from the policy changes related to EU membership application by Iceland. Iceland's decision to apply for EU membership in 2009 was considered quite shocking, because Iceland itself is known as a country that is very eurosceptism. The change of the political atmosphere in Iceland in 2013 led to the application of the European Union restrained. Independence Party (IP), known as a party eurosceptism successfully recaptures the majority of parliamentary seats Iceland. On the other hand, the decision to cancel the application IP was also full of the influence of interest groups. Is The Federation of Icelandic Fishing Vessel Owners (LIU), Iceland's largest interest group engaged in the fisheries sector. The study then want to discover how LIU strategy in influencing foreign policy formulation Icelandic application for cancellation of the European Union.
