Abstract :

Aeromonas hydrophila was isolated from diseased shrimp Penaeus monodon cultured in the Pasuruan district of East Java Province, Indonesia. Shrimp were reared in traditional ponds with not supplied commercial feed. Some shrimp exhibited external signs of disease light. Their gill appeared light red-yellow in colour and they had a weak swimming movement. They also were infected with Vorticella and Zoothamnium. Bacteria were isolated from the hepatopancreas, gill and gut contents of infected shrimp and recovered from 19 sample from 24 sample. The bacterial suppose to be secondary invader because the viral particles were detected in hyperthrophied nuclei and cytoplasm on disease animal.
