Abstract :
Abstract: Diarrhea is one of the most frequently problems that cause the death if not well treated promptly. In developing countries including Indonesia, diarrhea is classified as a disease group which the most occurring in children especially in toddlers. The purpose of this research was to study association of environmental factors and mother’s behavior with diarrheal disease in under five children. This study was an observational analytic research by using cross secsional design. The population of this research was mothers who has children under five and ever experienced diarrhea and lived in Kalijudan under the scope of Kalijudan Public Health Center in January-October 2013. Sample size were 80 respondents which determined by simple random sampling. The data collection was done by questionnaire. The data was analysis using Chi Square test. The results of statistical test Chi Square showed that p value variables associated to diarrheal disease were as follows: source of drinking water (0.031), the disposal of feces (0.475), the disposal of wastewater (0.017), the mother’s knowledge (0.039), the attitude’s mother (0.048), and the mother’s action (0.012). The results of the analysis showed that there is a significant assosiation between environmental factors and mother’s behavior with diarrhea disease in children under five. But for the disposal of feces does not have significant relations and the disposal of garbage which produce constant values that cannot be inferred. This study suggests the mothers to increase the healthy and clean lives behaviours for their under five children. The villarge officer can help the society to do mutual cooperation regularly, the removal of garbage by the officer routinely, as well as for public toilet which expected that there is a routine schedule for cleaning.
