Abstract :
Glass factory is one of the work environment which has the hot work climate andit can cause to many subjective complaints as a consequence of heat stress. That’s complaints is influence by age, work duration, rest duration, drinking habits, body size, physical fitness, workload and work climate. This research aimed to identify the most dominant factor to the emergence of subjective complaints caused by heat stress. This research was an analytical research used crossectional design. Population of this research were workers from Forming, Melting and Sortir unit of PT. IGLAS (Persero) in 2013. The sampling technique which used in this research was proportional random sampling method (52 workers). Obtained data were analyzed using spearman correlation and multiple linier regression. The result of this research indicated that from all of the factors, just the work shift (p = 0.001; r = -0.431) and body size (p = 0.005; r = 0.382) which were related to the emergence of subjective complaints caused by heat stress. Both of those factors had influence in appearing subjective complaints caused by heat stress (p = 0,000). However, the value of the regression coefficients indicated that the work shift (β = -2.860) had a greater influence than body size (β = 1.290). It can be concluded that the dominant factors which influence for the emergence of subjective complaints caused by heat stress was a work shift. Then, researcher suggested office manajemen to readjust the work rhythm workforce by providing regular holiday together, holiday after night work shift and health therapies such as exercise and diet of workers with overweight body size.
