Abstract :

Profession ethics is the foundation for a profession that is used as afoundation in every task of the profession. Profession ethics is a product ofprofessional organizations as outlined in the code of professional conduct. Thus, theexistence of a code of ethics for the profession becomes an important thing. Rubinexplains that the librarian professional ethics is extremely important because itprovides the framework and limits for librarians to be able to achieve the values ofservice, responsible for others and the community (Rubin, 2004: 324). Theimportance of professional ethics for librarians have prompted the authors to beable to know the implementation of a code of conduct on the librarian, in this casewill be the librarians who are members of Indonesian Librarian Association (IPI)Surabaya branch.In this study, the research method used is descriptive quantitative. Samplingtechnique with probability sampling technique by using simple random sampling inwhich to determine the number of samples, the researchers used the formula whereTaro Yamane of the formula obtained samples are 64 respondents.Based on research conducted by researchers showed for the implementationof the code of ethics of librarians in Indonesia, showed Overall implementationlibrarian code of ethics relating to obligations to the nation and the state assessedlies in the EXCELLENT category with the score 96.4%. Implementation of the codeof conduct relating to the obligation librarian to society assessed lies in the categoryEXCELLENT with the score 91.9%. Obligation to the profession librarians whorepresented through obligations to the Indonesian Librarian Association, holdprinciples of intellectual freedom, and respect the intellectual property ratedEXCELLENT by the score of 81.007%. Liabilities librarian to your colleagues by 64respondents rated EXCELLENT by 85.2%. Librarians obligation to self ratedEXCELLENT by the score sebasar 84.06%
