Abstract :

This research study and understand the use of internet facilities provided by the library. This study is very important because given the increasing number of people who prefer to use the internet as a medium for the fulfillment of their needs compared to using other sources such as the library. Even the internet facilities provided by the library did not escape they use to meet their needs even though the library itself already provides many collection to assist users in meeting their needs. Based on these conditions, researchers interested in conducting this research aimed to find out how an internet facility in the library utilized by users to meet their needs.  This study is based on quantitative descriptive quantitative method using the theory of uses and gratification of Herbert Blumer And Elihu Katz to answer the description of the use of the internet facility in the library among student. The results of this study informs that the cognitive needs of the student into the initial motivation nominally in using the internet facilities library (94%). Related cognitive needs information about the latest news (38,3%) become the main thing they filled the library with internet facility. The selection of library internet facility based reasons that the library internet facility is able to provide information in electronic form they prefer rather than information from printed sources (34,04%).  Library with internet facilities selected as the source of satisfying the needs of cognitive also based on the quality of the library collection which are considered some of the respondents (8,51%) do not yet have the ability to assist them in meeting the needs of cognitive. Not only cognitive needs, but also other needs such as affective, personal integration, social integration, and release of tension. Library with internet facility because of the large role in meeting the needs of cognitive, it can be said if the media functions as environmental monitoring or supervision can be fulfilled
