Abstract :

A cockle is an aquatic organism inhabiting in bottom substrate of the water and group, based on its charateristicsuch as leg, gill and two ridges of shell. Besides, it is consumed as commercial food as the demand of thisspecies in the it attaches on rough substrate in water body. The cockle is categorized into Pelecypoda class ormolluscs seafood restorant which needs high quality of this traded cockle is high. Increasing market demandledto a decline in the population so that the necessary development towards cultivation. It required data relating tothere productive system. This study aims to determine the correlation of the gonad weight of the gonad maturityindex cookle waters Sedati in Sidoarjo. Cockle acquired in each of stations (5 stations) with one caught way. Thesample catching was conducted with net rasp. From the yield of catching each of stations, sampel that has beenobtained, will be firstly length, weidth, weight of gonado, IKG, Gonado Mature and histolgy. The results showeda correlation between the weight of the male gonad with GSI shells at station 1 shows a strong correlationpositively with the equation y=0,708x+1319, while females showed a positive correlation being with theequation y = 0,765x + 1420. At station 2 the correlation between weight gonads with GSI showed a strongcorrelation positively with the equation y = 0,930x + 1641, while females have the equation y = 1304x + 2056.
