Abstract :

The use of plants as alternative medicine in disease teratment by the community is highly improved so that require a study that proves the virtue and safety of the medicine. One of plants with medical virtue widely used by the community is cempedak (Artocarpus champeden Spreng), and the study was conducted for knowing the safety of using the plant by measuring SGPT and SGOT enzym levels of mice. On this research, male mice as laboratory animal was divided into four groups; the first three groups as treated groups, and the remain as control group. The treated groups were given with extracts in the form of suspension in CMC-Na 0,5% by the dose 1 ml, once a day for a month. After a month, the tested mice blood was collected and reacted with ALAT and ASAT Kit reagent, and then photometrically observed with the wave length of 340 nm to count the SGPT and SGOT levels. The data then analyzed using One Way ANOVA test.The conclusion is that ethanol and water extracts did not influence the level of SGPT and SGOT enzym of mice.
