A model for calculating economic lost due to animal disease cases foot and mouth disease

Abstract :
The purpose of this study was to design and calculate the model for measuring the impact of disease outbreak focusing mostly on the potential repercussions on Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD). The formulation of the model was also conducted for assessing the current policy on animal disease eradication program. Some technical and epidemiological approach were used for completion of model.
The results showed that total economic losses due to FMD was Rp. 11.59 billion which was comprises direct economic losses Rp. 3.9 billion, indirect economic losses Rp.3.4 billion and losses due to multiplier effect primarily into trading sector and tourism Rp. 4.3 billion.
