Abstract :

The correlation between parturient hypocalcemia and periparturient disorders (dystocia, retained placenta, metritis, mastitis and foot problems or lameness) was evaluated in 856 cows that calves from January 1999 up to February 2000 in KUD Karang Ploso Malang. There were highly significant correlation between parturient hypocalcemia and dystocia, retained palcenta, metritis and foot problems or lameness. Parturient hypocalcemia increased the risk of dystocia, retained placenta, metritis and lameness. The odds ratios for these correlation were 7.8; 2.6; 4.1 and 6.6 respectively.
