Abstract :
This research is aimed to discuss the political economy of new government in Indonesia under leadership of President Abdurrahman Wahid (Gus Dur) and Vice President Megawati. The main problem of this research is “how is the relationship between state and market or politic and economy in Idonesia during Gus Dur’s administration”. Specifically, the problems are: how is the performance of state under leadership of Gus Dur? How is the performance of economy under leadership of Gus Dur? To what extent the performance of state influence the economic activities in the society? To what extent the economic activities in the society influence the performance of state? This research finds that there is no significance changes in political economy of Indonesia during about one year of Gus Dur’s administration. Clientelism model of relationship between the state and the market still exist.
