Abstract :

The core of this paper is about women's destiny and their condition in actual social role, based on a review from previous study done since 1950s which generally see women in unlucky position (destiny) and unequal to men in social and cultural life. The original research of this article used the social research method anthropologically, content analysis of mass media, field and library research. After exploring (1) the role of women for fighting to their prestige, the equality of right, the violence and trafficking of women, also the bureaucratic and political role, (2) expert views about the concept of gender condition shaped by the social and cultural condition (and biologically), (3) social and cultural data about barrier and stimulant toward the development program of women, this article provides suggestions on the promotion of women in Indonesia based upon their main potency to play role in the household for resulting the human resource ideally.
