Abstract :
This study had two focuses. The first concerns with the change of the function of “Wayang Topeng” (Mask Puppet) Glagahdowo. The second deals with the community of Glagahdowo’s response to the existence of the puppet. Qualitative, ethnographic model in particular, is used as the methodology of the study. This study also depends much on both participant observation and indepth interview to collect data. The qualitative method that particularly rely on “narrative realism” is used to analyse the data. This study indicates that the existence of the puppet is in danger. This condition is related to several facts, include communication technology and transportation, which in fact change the function of the puppet from profane to sacral function.
