Effect of different injection time of pregnant mare serum gonadotropin (pmsg) on the onset of estrous of fat tailed ewes synchronized using intravaginal progesterone

Abstract :

The aim of this study was to know the influence of different time of Pregnant Mare Serum Gonadotropin (PMSG) injection on the onset of estrous of ewes synchronized using progesterone sponge. In this experiment 20, 1-2 years old Javanese Fat Tailed ewes were randomly divided into 4 experimental groups P0, P1, P2 and P3). All ewes received progesterone sponge implant for 12 days for estrous synchronization. Ewes in P1, P2 and P3 received intramuscular injections of PMSG respectively at two days and one day before sponge removal, and at the same day following sponge removal. As the control, ewes in PO received injection of physiological saline. Analysis using ANOVA followed with 5 % LSD showed a significant longer onset of estrous of ewes in P0 compared to those in P1, P2, and P3. P3 significantly different with P1 and P2. The fastest time onset of estrous shown in the treatment group P1, but not significantly different with P2.
