Abstract :
Nowdays parents are more aware and being considered about the development and the education of their children, wich caused so many child with attention disorder and hyperactivity recognized. Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is caused by a lot of factors, such as neurobiological disturbance or inbalance of the child neuro transmitter. The consequence of ADHD to the child it self consists a few problems such as speech problems and occupational problems. Speech and occupational development are vital to the child in order to communicate and socialized with others, disturbance in this area means the learning process of the child it self would be hindered. Intelligence, emotional, and social behavior also being under developed. There are three ways of approach in education for the ADHD child. (1) Structured learning program and stimulus reduction, (2) Behavior modification, (3) Cognitive training. With the proper knowledge and understanding about ADHD it self will promote the well being of the child wich suffer from ADHD. In this research, the subject consist of two parents of ADHD child wich undergo therapy in the psychiatric clinic Dr. Soetomo Hospital Surabaya. Data collection used observational method and deep interview. Data wich has been collected, processed and analyzed with the triangulation technique. Subject NS do not have many knowledge about ADHD but has a very positive attitude towards ADHD child, whereas subject NZ, despite having more knowledge about ADHD, does not have a positive attitude towards ADHD child. The conclusion is, parents who worked, despite does not have many knowledge about ADHD but spend a lot of time with his/her child have a very positive attitude towards ADHD child. And a very busy working parents, despite have higher educational background and knowledge about ADHD who spend less time with his/her child have a negative attitude towards ADHD child.
