Abstract :
This research was conducted to determine the potency of apple cider vinegar as a traditional medicine for wound healing incision on mice (Mus musculus) were infected by Staphylococcus aureus. Twenty four of three months old female mice (Mus musculus) with 25 gram average body weight was divided into four group. Group A was treated with self produced apple cider vinegar, group B was treated with commercial product cider vinegar, Group C was treated with oxytetracycline as antibiotic and group D as a control was not given treatment. The treatment is given topically three times a day. Observation of wound healing was characterized by the exfoliation of the scab and wound closure. The experimental design used in this study was using completely randomized design (CRD). The data were analized by Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) and then was followed by Honestly Significant Difference (HSD) test with a significance of 1%. The result showed that the treatment using self produced and commercial apple cider vinegar and oxytetracycline affect the healing time of the Staphylococcus aureus wound infection on mice, and the treatment indicated that both apple cider vinegar showed the best result compared to antibiotic treatment and control.
