Abstract :

This research examines the role of IKEA in responding the child labour issue which is happening inside the carpet industry in Uttar Pradesh, India. As one of the big multinational corporation, IKEA got engaged in child labour issue which is contradictive with IKEA vision. Through many years, IKEA has been trying to bring a better life for people by offering home furniture products which have innovative designs with a cheap price. That is why the child labour issue can affect the corporate image. Therefore, IKEA should take some steps to respond the issue. Those steps are related to the concept of corporate image, corporate social responsibility, and international cooperation. By applying those concepts in this research, the writer found that IKEA has an active role in responding the child labour issue by cooperating with international actors in doing some corporate social responsibility programs. The steps taken by IKEA can fix the corporate image that always be related to child labour.
