Abstract :
This research motivated by the problem that emerged due the number of korean drama consumers, which considered to have control the Chinese broadcasting industry. This causes Chinese government found it necessary to stop the popularity of korean drama by issued a restriction policy for all South Korea television programs. However, that restriction policy failed because the import figures of korean drama in China stabilized quickly and continued to increase. This research tried to find the factors that cause the Chinese broadcasting industry still controlled by korean drama, although it had imposed restriction policy before, by using Trade Openness theory, Cultural Diplomacy theory, Cultural Proximity concept, and Cultural Hybridization thesis. In the end, the researcher found that the cause of the Chinese broadcasting industry controlled by korean drama can not be separated from Chinese government decision to transform became open to the international community and South Korea government decision to develop their own culture industry. In addition, China-South Korea relationship in the past makes both countries bound by the same way tradition, can be a possible cause of the korean drama popularity in China is hard to stop. Moreover, korean drama as part of korean wave is a form of cultural mix between the West and the East that considered as an alternative culture for China.
