Strategi unilever menjadi pemain utama teh hitam global

Abstract :
In 1960, Unilever decided to diversify it’s products by expanding into black tea business. In 1971 Unilever acquired Lipton and in 1984 also Brooke Bond, both were competitive players in black tea industry. Since then, Unilever market share in black tea industry significantly increased. This research is going to explain about how Unilever as a new comer in black tea industry, can possibly be a main player within a very short time. There will be three concepts to explain here, acquisition, supply chain, and company’s bargaining power. At the end of this research, there found three factors of how it was possible for Unilever at that time. First, the way Unilever executing the acquisition strategy itself which was then by acquiring it’s competitors; second, how Unilever choosing the right target which were Lipton and Brooke Bond to own control over supply chain; third, the bargaining power of Unilever over home and host country.
