Abstract :
Employment (occupation, vocation, career) is one of the most important aspects of human life today. How people will find it very difficult and anxious if do not have a clear job, especially if to be unemployed. Similarly, many people who experience stress and frustration in life due to work issues. Research Levinson (in Isaacson, 1986) showed that the most important component of adult human life are: (1) family, and (2) work. The two components will determine the happiness of human life, so it is not surprising that the practical problems of work and family took all the attention, energy,and time adults.Work does not necessarily constitute a career. The word work (work, job, employment) refers to any activity that produces goods or services (Isaacson, 1986), while the word career (career) more pointed on the job or position is occupied and is believed to be the call of life, which permeates the entire universe and the mind one's feelings, as well as coloring their whole lifestyle (Winkel, 1991). Thus the career election requires more preparation and planning than if you just got a temporary job time.In making a careful planning about our future careers sometimes we need information that supports what our ideals in the future, but we caught a lot of information to our senses only in fragments or pieces of it, so we did not live The information thoroughly. Same as (perception), though the same stimulus, but because the experience is not the same, the ability to think is not the same,, not the same frame of reference, the possible outcomes of the perception among individuals with other individuals will not be the same. As well as the perceptions of students as to perceive how their employment opportunities or in the futureThis study uses a quantitative approach to the descriptive type. This descriptive type chosen by the researchers because researchers wanted to illustrate how perceptions among new students at the end of the Program Student Information and Library Science of the opportunities or jobs related to Information Science Program and the Library. The number of respondents for this study were 100 people, the data collected by questionnaires and interviews with some respondents who were selected by the researchers for answers as clear as possible and the facts that support this research.Results of this study found that the perception among new students and students of final Program of Information and Library Studies differ in perceiving or employment opportunities related to the courses they live today, a program of Library and Information Science study.
