Abstract :
The Iraq War that lasted between 2003 and 2011 was United States of America’s biggest and most expensive military operation after the Vietnam War. Aside of spending quite a lot of expenses, this war was also unauthorized by the UN. When discussing about the reason of USA’s war in Iraq, we usually focus on classic reasons such as politics, security, and territorial matter. We also tend to discuss about the national interest of state actors as the reason. What is less discussed is economic motives of the war, and historically there are too few studies regarding economic motives that becomes the interest of sub-state actors behind the Iraq War. Economic profit is gained from the Iraq War through government projects and contracts that is given to private contractors. The practice of gaining economic profit from war is called war profiteering.
