Abstract :
Deforestation rates in Indonesia tend to increase from year to year and enter at a critical stage. As the third largest forest country in the world, Indonesia is considered a fail to protect forests. The high rates of deforestation is due to Over forest functions, which is mostly done by the private sector, into oil palm plantations which is one of Indonesia's important commodities in international trade. This action even endangered of the Sumatran Tiger and Orangutan until it is threatened with extinction and affect climate change. This action then gained the attention of Greenpeace and initeate them to do forest protection campaign. The Greenpeace campaigns are insprired from Greenpeace's own strategy. This research will explain how Greenpeace's strategy, Non-Violent Direct Action and Moderate, is applied to protect Indonesia's forests. Through a combination of these two strategies from 2007 to 2015, Greenpeace has embraced all walks of life from communities, market-based actors, to the Indonesian government to commit to protect Indonesia's forests through the formulated policies.
