Abstract :
Brazil and Indonesia is a country that has the largest tropical rain forest in the world. Brazil, which previously was the highest contributor to deforestation in the world, since 2004 was able to reduce the level of deforestation, is continuously until 2012. However, Indonesia is otherwise experiencing increasing deforestation. Differences that occurred in both countries in tackling deforestation are inseparable from how each country adheres to applicable global environmental regime. The effectiveness of international regimes can be seen in its implementation in the domestic sphere through the two main actors involved in it, state authorities in determining policy and the role of environmental NGOs as stakeholders in their respective countries. Through both of these control variables, can be found why there is a difference between the trend of deforestation rates in Brazil and Indonesia during 2001 until 2012.
