Abstract :
The increasing usage of Internet in the world, especially in Indonesia, also impact on education model in Indonesia which also began implementing computer technology and internet media in their system. As a young students, students now is forced to use the internet as one of the facilities in the learning process. Unlike some adults who generally have been able to make filter the good or bad from the internet, otherwise teenagers cannot make that way. Based on this, the researchers are interested in preparing a study to find out how about intensity using internet among students in Surabaya. This research also wants to know what positive and negative impacts of using the internet. This research is also a descriptive quantitative research where the sample set by the method of nonprobability sampling technique and take the incidental sampling to 91 respondents.The data were then analyzed by techniques of descriptive quantitative.The results showed the intensity of the students use the Internet to be in the category of heavy users (65.93 %) .Most students have a positive impact as useful internet as a medium of information (34.07 % and 45.05 higbenefit % moderate benefits).Most students have not received the positive impact of the Internet useful as a communication medium (50.55% take low benefits and only 49.45% take moderate benefits).Most students have a positive impact because the Internet is useful as a learning medium (43.96% take high benefits and 35.16% take moderate benefits).Most students have apositive impact as useful internet as a medium of entertainment (53.85% take moderate benefits was 40.66% and high benefits). Most students have a positive impact as useful as a medium of Internet business and entertainment (39.56% take high benefits and 25.27% take moderate benefits). Internet does not negatively impact the students because students’ social attitudes are not reduced (60.44% low, 32.97% moderate). Internet does highly enough to give a negative impact to the student because interaction patterns of the students reduced (54.95 % and 28.57 % were high). Internet does not negatively impact the students because there have less introduction toward such a crime actions (73.63% moderate and 21.98% were low). Internet does not negatively impact the students because the internet does not make negative addiction to students (58.24% moderate and 4.40% were low).
